Each developer might perceive the problem at hand, in different views. This would mean that, each developer would try to solve the problem from different perspectives. Thus it becomes extremely difficult for a new developer to continue to work on the project that has been originally coded by another developer.

Some people prefer maintenance teams that are different from the web development teams. This again poses some problems to the new teams as only the original programmer would be well aware of the code and flow of your project.
